We don’t really want you to have to think too much when you are using Buzz Frenzy. “Add your Buzztag and get on with your life” is our motto. Unfortunately, it doesn’t completely work like that. Facebook has rules that we must abide by – we are playing in their playground after all. Most of the time you will never bump into an issue because the rules are obvious (no nudity, and such), but some of these policies are more nuanced. Here are the top three things that our customers bump into from time to time. Avoid them and you will have a happier time in Facebook’s playground.
Do not use a picture with text on it. Sure, there are some exceptions to this rule, but the exceptions are dumb. The easiest thing to remember: DON’T USE TEXT ON PICS! Facebook may allow an image with text on it to run as an ad, but “with less or no delivery” (their words, not ours). How do we solve this issue?
Repeat after me: I WILL NOT USE IMAGES WITH TEXT ON THEM. Class dismissed.
On Facebook the use of the word “You” is a trigger for a personal attribute flag. What in the what does that even mean? Glad you asked (look, I just used it). Businesses often use the “Problem:Solution” method to get their message across, i.e “You have a problem: We can fix it”. The problem is that a business is not allowed to imply a person’s attributes (good or bad) in their advertising, i.e. “You are overweight: We can help you lose it”. So, what a business needs to say is “This is the problem we can fix” i.e. “We can help with weight loss”
It’s subtle, and that’s why people trip on it.
This is very similar to using “You” but in picture format. A business cannot show an ideal version of the human body OR a less than ideal version of the human body. What this means is you cannot show pictures of six pack abs, or an acne-scarred face, or cellulite. Before and after pictures (and this includes using just the before picture OR just the after picture) are strictly forbidden. I am not understating that.
